A kegerator is a specialized Refrigerator designed to keep a keg cold and dispense via a faucet, regulator, and CO2 system. In addition to normal refrigeration components (compressor, thermostat/control board, door gasket), beverage hardware can fail: CO2 regulators drift, lines crack, and faucet/shank seals leak or stick.
Repairs often make sense when you can address a single control issue or replace beverage hardware for better performance and sanitation. Replacement becomes more attractive when the compressor is failing, the unit can't maintain temperature, or moisture and spills have caused corrosion and persistent odors.
If you're using it frequently for homebrew or parties, reliability and consistent temperature control matter; chronic issues can lead to foamy pours and wasted gas, which adds hidden cost over time.
